A comprehensive employee survey for only $1,200!
Workplace Insights is a pre-designed, pre-packaged employee survey. Our goal
is to offer a comprehensive, high-quality, employee survey that small employers
can afford and at the same time provide an a la carte menu of options to create
a customized survey for larger employers.
In addition to demographics, the basic questionnaire contains over 120 questions
measuring employee opinion across 12 dimensions:
- Their Job
- The Physical Environment
- Workplace Safety
- Commuting Patterns
- Teleworking
- Organization and Culture
- Workplace Discrimination
- Compensation
- Professional Growth
- Their Manager
- Senior Leadership
- Communication
There is no fee to delete questions or entire sections. If you decide to conduct
the survey, we will provide you with a paper copy to review so you can delete
questions that are inappropriate for your organization. In addition, there are
certain modifications we will make for free to customize the survey.
What you recieve for $1,200
- We conduct the survey online: Employees will need a computer with access to
the internet, at home, work, or other location.
- You can delete any questions that are inappropriate.
- We will modify three questions (if you elect to include them) to be appropriate
for you. They are:
- Office Location: At which office do you work?
- Department: In which department do you work?
- Staff Level: Is your position part of senior management, middle management, or staff?
- Another question that will be customized to match your organization concerns employee
opinion about the products or services provided by your company or organization
- We will modify any question that uses the terms "company", "organization", or
"company/organization", as seen in the demo, to be appropriate for the client.
In other words, those questions will be changed to use your company name or the
appropriate organization type.
- We will tabulate the results and provide you with PDF files containing the following tables and charts:
- Tables: You receive a set of banner cross-tabs for all questions by the variable(s)
of your choice, up to 10 individual banner points or columns (the number we can fit
across one page). "Total" must be one of the columns. For example, results by Total, Sex,
and Age would equal 10 points. Click here to see a sample.
There are a wide variety of possible options, depending on the size of your company. We will
discuss possible analysis options with you. We also provide an instruction page showing how
to read the tables.
- Charts: You will receive a set of charts showing either the "overall average scores"
for each variable (rating questions), or, the total who checked each option (checkbox
questions). Click here to see sample charts.
Options available for a fee - the a la carte menu
There is almost no limit to the modifications you can make to the basic survey. Larger organizations,
in particular, will probably want additional data runs, additional charts, and may want to add questions
of their own. Here are the prices for most modifications:
| Customizing Options |
Cost |
|
Modify text in an existing question: For example, changing
"My place of work is ..." to "The building where I work is ..."
|
$35 per question
|
|
Modify text in existing response values: The response values are the possible
answers that employees can check. You may like the question, but feel that different
response values should be used.
|
$45 per question
|
|
Adding additional response values to an existing radio question: As
an example, an existing question might have 3 response values: Yes, No, and Don't Know.
You might want to change it to 5: Definitely, Probably, Not sure, Probably not, and
Definitely not.
|
$60 per question
|
|
Adding additional response options to an existing checkbox question: Checkbox
questions are those where employees can check multiple answers. For example,
to the question "What is the source of the danger on your job?", there are about 20
possible answers. You might want to add some more.
|
$80 per question
|
|
Adding a new radio question: Radio questions are those to which employees
can select only one answer, as in this example:
|
$95 per question
|
|

|
|
Adding a new checkbox question: These are multiple-response questions,
as in the following example:
|
$120 per question
|
|

|
|
Adding a text box to an "Other" response value: You will notice
in the demo survey that there are a few questions, as in the example below, where "Other"
is one of the response options, yet there is no space for employees to type an answer.
This was done to help keep costs down. If it is important to you, we can add a text box
where employees can type "other" answers. The cost is based on company size.
|
25 Cents per employee ($120 minimum/$500 maximum)
|
|

|
|
Adding an "Open-end" question: Open-end questions are those where
employees can type a more substantial answer, such as their reasons for something or opinions
about something. The value of open-end questions is that the resulting data is based entirely
on what employees say, not as a response to options we provided. An example of an open-end
question might be: "What suggestions do you have for improving communication in your department?",
or, "Is there anything you would like to tell us that wasn't included in the survey?"
Open-end questins are time-consuming to process. To keep costs down they
have not been included in the basic survey. However, they can provide valuable information, and
can be added.
|
40 cents per employee ($150 minimum/$800 maximum)
|
|
Additional analysis banner & tables: This is a set of
tables that show results for all questions by an analysis banner. As indicated
above, one banner table set is included in the $1,200 price. This option is for
additional data runs. There are many possible analysis banners: Results by ...
- Employee age group,
- Men versus Women,
- Location or Branch,
- Department,
- Staffing Level,
- Full-Time or Part-Time,
- Length of Employment,
- Work Shifts,
- Union versus Non-Union, and
- Salaried versus Hourly
are the most common choices, but any question can be used to
segment employees into groups. A banner has a maximum of 10 banner points, so it
is possible to fit more than one of the above options onto a single banner. For
example, if you have three locations, the banner could include "Location" (3 pts.),
Length of Employment (7pts.) in the same banner.
Organizations with few employees will be limited in their banner
choices. There are many more options open to large employers. It is even possible
(for an additional fee) to conduct data runs within employee groups; e.g., Results by
work shift for individual branch locations. However, you should be aware that we
will not perform any analysis that has the potential of identifying individual
employees.
|
$400 per banner
|
|
Individual Cross-tab: A "cross-tab" is the result for
a single question analyzed by the response groups of another single question. For
example, you might want to know the reasons people are looking for another job by
how serious they are about job hunting (actually job hunting vs thinking about it).
Cross-tabs allow you to drill down into the data. Any question in
the survey can be crossed with any other. Often, the need for a cross-tab isn't apparent
until some time after the initial analysis. This isn't a problem. We'll keep the data
in the computer for a couple of months. Just call and tell us what you need.
|
$50 each
|
|
Additional charts: The basic package includes charts that
show overall or average results for the total employee population. We can prepare
additional charts depicting any analysis performed. For example, you might want
charts that show how certain questions were answered by employees from each department.
Charts are provided in PDF format. A different format may increase
the cost.
|
$50 per hour (1 hr. minimum)
|
|
Analysis & written report: Instead of figuring out which
additional banners and cross-tabs to run you can have us do it for you and prepare a
written report. Or, we can write a report based on the banners you selected. The
extent of the analysis and reporting depends a great deal of the size of your
organization and the number of departments and locations.
